Jonathan Neale: The politics of AIDS |

The AIDS epidemic calls for a passionate response. It also calls for a highly political response. Jonathan Neale's essay is both. While never letting us forget that this is a human tragedy which commands anger and sorrow, Jonathan relentlessly unpicks the lies, half truths and evasions to reveal the malign neglect with which our rulers have met the spread of AIDS.
More than this 'The politics of AIDS' is a celebration of resistance, primarily that of gays and lesbians to the threat which faces us all. Building on the experience of that resistance Jonathan shows what has worked and what has failed in the past in order that we can be better able to fight in the future. |
