12dec09 Climate demonstration in Copenhagen
Ian Terry speaks at Bella Center
Ian Terry was a worker at Vestas on the Isle of Wight until he with 600 others lost his job this summer. With about 20 fellow workers he occupied their factory.
The occupation was a very large step forward in building new links between environmentalist, trade union activists and socialists.
At the same time more than 1.100 Vestas workers were sacked in Denmark. Just last month, in November, 700 workers (who made wings for windmills) were laid off at LM Glasfiber in Denmark.
Don’t listen to politicians when they say they care about the climate – and at the same time let thousands of workers get the sack.
